What we believe
At Torch & Trumpet Theatre Company, our foundation is built on the life-changing truth of the Gospel.
The Bible
The Bible is God’s message to everyone. It was written by people who were guided by the Holy Spirit in a supernatural way. Since it is inspired by God, the Bible is entirely true, without any errors, and remains completely relevant to our everyday lives.
God
God the Father is the Creator and ruler of everything, existing forever as part of the Trinity—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. He is all-powerful, all-knowing, always present, and unchanging. He is holy, loving, and compassionate, deserving our complete trust because He is faithful to keep His promises.
Jesus
Jesus Christ is fully human and fully God. He is God’s only plan to restore our relationship with Him when we’ve been separated by sin. Jesus lived a perfect life, taking our place to meet God’s standard of perfection. Through His resurrection, He conquered death so we can have eternal life.
The Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit assures us of our relationship with Jesus. He convicts us of sin, reveals God’s righteousness, and reminds us of the coming judgment. The Holy Spirit also comforts us, equips us with spiritual gifts, and helps us grow to be more like Christ.
Eternity
The Holy Spirit assures us of our relationship with Jesus. He convicts us of sin, reveals God’s righteousness, and reminds us of the coming judgment. Man was made to live forever. We will either spend eternity separated from God because of sin or united with Him through forgiveness and salvation. Being separated from God forever is Hell, while being with Him forever is Heaven. Both Heaven and Hell are real places where we will exist for eternity. The Holy Spirit also comforts us, equips us with spiritual gifts, and helps us grow to be more like Christ.
Man
People are made in God’s image and are the most important part of His creation. We were created to have a close relationship with God, but sin and disobedience broke that connection. Because of this, we can’t restore our relationship with God on our own. Every person is uniquely made, has inherent worth, and deserves respect and Christ-like love.
Salvation
Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross is the only way we can be saved and have our sins forgiven. Salvation happens when we trust in His death and resurrection as the full payment for our sins. It is a gift from God that cannot be achieved through anything we do on our own.
Baptism
Jesus was baptized and taught His followers to be baptized as well. Baptism is a way to publicly show our faith in Jesus—it’s an outward sign of the commitment we’ve already made in our hearts. Baptism itself doesn’t save us; only our faith in Jesus and His sacrifice on the cross brings salvation.
Communion
Jesus taught His followers to observe communion as a way to remember His sacrifice on the cross. The bread and juice represent His body, broken for us, and His blood, shed for the forgiveness of our sins. Communion is a meaningful time to celebrate what Jesus has done, while also taking time to confess and reflect on our relationship with God.
The Church
The Church is a community of believers united by their faith in Jesus. It is dedicated to following His teachings, living out His commands, and sharing the Gospel with the world. Together, the Church strives to glorify Jesus through love, unity, and purpose.
